The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has an overview of the federal SNAP program. Note: The SNAP program in Nevada uses options and waivers that make it different in some ways than the federal SNAP rules.
Apply for SNAP
You can apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP):
- Online at Access Nevada
- By printing a paper application, completing it, and then bringing it in person or faxing it to your local Division of Social Services (DSS) office, or mailing it to the address listed on the first page of the form.
- By picking up an application in person from your local Division of Social Services (DSS) office.
You can use this same paper application to apply for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). You can also apply for Medicaid and TANF online at Access Nevada.
Note: The State Division of Social Services (DSS) provides a list of information you need to provide when you apply for SNAP.
Places to Spend SNAP
You can use your Nevada EBT Card to buy food:
- At grocery stores. Look for a posted sign that says that the store is able to accept EBT cards before you start shopping.
- At participating farmers markets and farm stands.
- Online, from retailers like Amazon and Walmart. Learn which stores in Nevada accept EBT cards online.
