    Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired

    If you are blind or have low vision, VR Nevada's Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired (BSBVI) can help you prepare for, find, and keep a job, and live as independently as possible. Services can include:

    • Evaluation and testing to help you make decisions about your future employment
    • Counseling and training to help you maneuver safely and with confidence
    • Help with your job search
    • Assistive technology tools
    • Help with needed job site modifications
    • Transition support if you are in high school, and
    • Independent living skills and training.

    Business Enterprises of Nevada (BEN)

    The Business Enterprises of Nevada (BEN) program offers training and on-the-job experience in managing and operating snack bars, cafeterias, vending machine routes and other businesses in public buildings.     Low Vision Clinic

    VR Nevada operates a monthly Low Vision Clinic to help determine how low vision is affecting your activities in the workplace and in daily living, and how to efficiently use your vision. A licensed optometrist is available to:

    • Conduct interviews, eye exams and testing
    • Diagnose the level of vision remaining and, if appropriate,
    • Prescirbe low vision aids, visual rehabilitation techniques, or specialized training.

    These services are free to VR Nevada and BSBVI clients. For more details, call 1-702-486-0277.

    Nevada Talking Book Services (NTBS) is a free audio library service offering audio books on loan through the mail or downloaded to a mobile device for Nevada residents who are unable to use standard print materials because of a visual or physical disability. Learn more about NTBS.
