    Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Nevada offers a variety of services for persons with disabilities to prepare for, get, and keep employment, including specialized support by the Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired (BSBVI). Contact a VR Nevada office in your area to sign up for an orientation to learn about VR Nevada's eligibility requirements and services.

    Visit a local EmployNV Career Hub to search for a job or get information on services offered, including career and skills assessment, resume and application assistance, and job referrals.

    The EmployNV website lets you search for jobs, and has a variety of tools and resources to help you reach your career and education goals.

    Apply for Benefits

    You can apply for SSI or SSDI:

    • Online (which starts the application process immediately)
    • By calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 or 1-800-325-0778 (TTY) to make an appointment to apply either:

    To get help with the application process, make an appointment with Social Security or contact a local Center for Independent Living (not all centers provide help with SSDI applications).

    If your SSI application is denied and you want a referral to a lawyer or other representative to help with your appeal, contact Nevada Disability Advocacy and Law Center (NDALC) or the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR).

    You can apply for Medicaid, Health Insurance for Work Advancement (HIWA), SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), or TANF:

    Ticket to Work

    Social Security’s Ticket to Work Program helps people with disabilities who get Social Security benefits re-enter the workforce and become more independent. The Ticket to Work Program offers free access to employment-related services, such as training, transportation, and vocational rehabilitation. You can call the Ticket to Work Help Line at 1-866-968-7842 or 1-866-833-2967 (TTY).
